Photo Competition

I've been meaning to go to the Historical, Vintage & Classic Cars Museum of Kuwait.  This week would have been the perfect time as they're organising a photo competition.  Unfortunately I'm out of town and won't be able to make this one.  If you're interested in participating, you will need to submit your entries by 12th May.  I will try to make it for the exhibition.

GulfWalk

This entry is so late, I've had to change its title!  I heard about the sixth GulfRun, which was held January this year, back in late November of last year.  I blocked the dates in my diary and took a day off from work ahead of time.  This was to be a weekend in Bahrain with the family - but with a difference:  We would visit our friends there but also get to see the F1 track. I sent an email to the address on the GulfRun website.  I wanted to make sure that we could attend without having a participating car.  I still remember it was past 11pm when I sent the email in; I got a lovely email back from their Manager - Khaled Al Fraih - within twenty minutes, welcoming us all to attend.  I told the family the next morning.

Eat my Dust

Although I don't follow the rallies, the cars and the drivers, I had heard and read about this a few weeks prior.  The Kuwait International Rally was a couple of weeks ago, and whether you know these supercars or not it was a wonderful opportunity for some action shots.  For me personally, it fell on a weekend when I was returning from a business trip late Thursday night, busy most of Friday, all of Saturday, and flying off again the following Monday.  I wasn't sure about timings, locations so I found myself surrendering to the I'll-do-it-next-time trap.

Za Best

I am in Cairo on a short business trip.  So far all I managed  is a late afternoon walk.  I thought the second day would give me some more time to catch up with the city - my last visit here was a few years ago - but I just learned that my second meeting will be in Alexandria...

I hope to be able to get a few shots of here and 'zair'...

Home Heat Home

I'm back in Kuwait.  I was driving home from the airport when I noticed the temperature - something we take for granted here.  It's hard to describe where forty-plus-degrees-celsius-heat comes from when the sun is nowhere to be seen! Look at my car's thermometer after 8pm and more than an hour after sunset.

I saw it at 46 when driving near Messilah and then it dropped back to 44.  At almost 11pm it was still 40!

I need a holiday.

We Have a New Baby

I was told you can't love a woman like a sister, wife, daughter and girlfriend - all at the same time.  How wrong was I to believe that?

This is my contribution to the rescue package of the world's economy.  Actually I'm leasing it - so it's a rather small contribution.  I had the same car last year for a year's contract and absolutely loved it.  It's beautifully built and the purring of the engine brings senior citizens to tears, as they miss their youth.  Enough about last year.  This time round, I went for a two year lease. This allowed me to increase the engine size, upgrade to the turbo and get the four-wheel-drive version for the same monthly payments.  The engine no longer purrs, it growls as the car disappears into the horizon.

I have to remember to control my foot - thus ensuring the only camera to capture this beautiful lady, is my own...
